Islanders get ready to OOHH and AHH during the 2nd annual July 4th fireworks display
Get ready to oohh, aahh and celebrate our country's Independence, Island Style.
For the first year ever, a Fourth of July Fireworks display will be presented on North Padre Island. Thanks to generous donations and effort from North Padre Island Residents, this year's show is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
A Fourth of July Boat Parade through the surrounding canals at 7pm will precede the show.
The fireworks will launch around 9pm from the Padre Island Yacht Club at the end of Whitecap Drive and will be visible in the surrounding canal areas with a West facing view.

Two Sisters Vintage
North Padre Island's shopping scene just got a little more exciting. If you have an affinity for unique home decor, furniture and art, you'll love Two Sisters Vintage.
The shop owners (who really are two sisters) have done a great job providing an eclectic assortment of goodies and antiques. The shop's style is a mix of shabby chic, country and coastal.
Find everything from hand made quilts to outdoor wall hangings, tea sets and unique decorative accents. We especially loved the beach and nautical-themed items, perfect for any island home.
New items arrive periodically, so return visits are just as fun. Go check them out and start your treasure hunt!
Construction at the new Schlitterbahn Beach Country North Padre Island Resort and Water Park is well underway with a tentative opening date marked in Summer 2014.
This TEXAS sized 65-acre water park is located within a full service resort complete with lodging, golf, tennis restaurants, event facilities and more. It sounds like it will be just as fun for adults as it is for kids!
Slides, pools, rides, a surf rider machine and swim up bar are all in the plan. The park is also set up to be a "lineless" with a lazy river transportation system allowing park guests to float from one ride to another without leaving the comfort of their inner tube.
A proposed master plan to the surrounding area also includes a marina in Lake Padre and a Beach Walk / Island Village with retail shops, restaurants, entertainment options, hotels, condos and more. The entire project should take around 15-20 years to complete.
"North Padre is raw, unencumbered Texas coast—a dramatic contrast to the spring break chaos of South Padre. Near the island's north end, Malaquite Beach is rarely crowded. The visitor center has displays on local history and wildlife. Work up a sweat windsurfing, kayaking, or walking any of the 60 miles of uninterrupted sand down to Mansfield Channel."
